My favourite was the one about the violated nuns escaping the Nazis. Over the years, people have offered up explanations from drunken seduction, and drug overdoses, to necrophilia, to Arthur Miller’s tale with Marilyn Monroe. That’s not to say people haven’t wracked their brains these last 45 years to offer meaning to Keith Reid’s mesmerizing poetry. Those were the unique times in which the song was born. It meant just what you wanted it to mean. We reacted to the elliptical poetry the same way we did to A Day in the Life - as beautiful words that filled your head with images that just let your imagination fly: the more abstruse, the better. However, I am reliably informed that anyone who throws their hands at an organ keyboard will come out with something owed to Orgelbuchlein- Bach’s Little Organ Book.Īfter singing the first verse, Jimmy Rabbitte goes on to say, “Poxiest lyrics ever written.” Well, they are vexing, perhaps, or mysterious, elusory, and some think, impenetrable, but frankly, that summer we never worried too much that they didn’t make immediate sense. I was also told it was inspired by Bach’s Sleepers, Awake. I was working as a copywriter in advertising at the time and wrote Hamlet cigar commercials, where we used the Air on a ‘G’ String music played by Jacques Loussier, so I always assumed it was that. Personally I never got the Sledge connection. OK, we meant Percy Sledge, a mistake which we turned into a joke later, when Stephen is in the priest’s confessional. The opening notes of AWSoP ring out and Stephen says, “Great intro, eh?” “Yeah they nicked it from Marvin Gaye” says Jimmy.” “He nicked it from Bach” counters Stephen. Jimmy Rabbitte, the young band’s manager in the story, visits the keyboard player, Stephen, in a church where he is playing the organ. In The Commitments, we were a tad disrespectful. Except we were in Austin, Texas and it was sung by the great country-blues singer, Toni Price, with the lyrics taped to a mic-stand and the accompaniment on steel guitar. And, like many others, it was played at my wedding. Apart from (or maybe because of) being one of the nuts who couldn’t stop playing the song that summer, it subsequently found its way into my film The Commitments and later I had the pleasure of working with Gary Brooker on my film of Evita. My own connection to AWSoP (as the aficionados call it) is somewhat nebulous. It certainly was the most played song during that summer of love, as I bore witness, along with any song from Sergeant Pepper coming a close second. The BBC says it went on to be the most played song in 70 years. With all this competition, this brand new band with the funny name and even odder song topped the UK charts for six weeks and soon became a worldwide hit, selling ten million records and spawning a thousand cover versions. Pink Floyd went quadraphonic, the Stones were busted at Redlands, Hendrix burned his guitar at Finsbury Park and, miraculously, Britain even won the Eurovision song contest that year with Sandy Shaw. Apart from the Beatles there were Otis, Aretha, Dylan, The Who, The Doors, The Kinks, The Animals and Cream. It was a tough time to make a debut, because 1967 was a great year for music. To misquote the poet Philip Larkin: it came upon us in the summer of love, between Apollo1 and the Beatles’ eighth LP. Odd enough that anyone who has been anywhere near a radio, Walkman or iPod in the last forty five years almost certainly would have listened to it. Let’s face it, Procol Harum’s A Whiter Shade of Pale is an odd song. INTRODUCTION TO HENRY SCOTT IRVINE’S PROCOL HARUM: GHOSTS OF A WHITER SHADE OF PALE By SIR ALAN PARKER Patients were randomized to the no-sigh group and treated by PSV alone, or to the sigh group, treated by PSV plus sigh (increase in airway pressure to 30 cm H 2O for 3 s once per minute) until day 28 or death or successful spontaneous breathing trial. We conducted a multicenter noninferiority randomized clinical trial on adult intubated patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure or ARDS undergoing PSV. Is the clinical application of sigh during pressure support ventilation (PSV) feasible? Sigh is a cyclic brief recruitment maneuver: previous physiologic studies showed that its use could be an interesting addition to pressure support ventilation to improve lung elastance, decrease regional heterogeneity, and increase release of surfactant. 30 Interdepartmental Division of Critical Care Medicine, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada.29 Servei de Medicina Intensiva, Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Barcelona, Spain.28 Médecine Intensive-Réanimation Groupement Hospitalier Edouard Herriot, Université de Lyon Faculté de Médecine Lyon-Est, Lyon, France.27 Sorbonne University, GRC 29, AP-HP, DMU DREAM, Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, Paris, France.26 Intensive Care Department, Hospital da Mulher, Salvador, Bahia, Brazil Intensive Care Department, Hospital Universitário Professor Edgard Santos, Universidade Federal da Bahia, Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.25 Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China.24 Department of Surgical Sciences and Integrated Diagnostics, University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy Anesthesia and Intensive Care, San Martino Policlinico Hospital, IRCCS for Oncology and Neurosciences, Genoa, Italy.23 Klinik für Anästhesiologie und Operative Intensivmedizin, Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel, Kiel, Germany.22 Intensive Care Unit, Larissa General Hospital, Larissa, Greece.21 Critical Care Service, Anaesthetics Division, Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, London, United Kingdom.20 Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, IRCCS Fondazione Policlinico A.19 Critical Care Department, Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, Vall d'Hebron Research Institute, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain Ciber Enfermedades Respiratorias (CibeRes), Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Madrid, Spain.18 Hospital Universitario Fundación Jiménez Díaz de Madrid, Madrid, Spain.17 AUSL Toscana Centro, Unit of Anesthesia and Resuscitation, San Giuseppe Hospital, Empoli, Italy.16 Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Transplants, University Hospital St.15 Department of Critical Care Medicine, Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China.14 Section of Anesthesia, Analgesia, Intensive Care and Emergency, Department of Surgical, Oncological and Oral Science, Policlinico Paolo Giaccone, University of Palermo, Palermo, Italy.13 Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, ASST Fatebenefratelli Sacco, Milan, Italy.12 Center for Internal Intensive Medicine, University Medical Center Ljubljana, Ljubljana, Slovenia.11 Anesthesia and Intensive Care, Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences, Magna Graecia University, Catanzaro, Italy.10 Department of Medicine-DIMED, University of Padua, Padua, Italy Institute of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, Padua Hospital, Padua, Italy.9 Anesthesia and Critical Care, San Gerardo Hospital, ASST Monza, Italy.8 Morphology, Surgery and Experimental Medicine, Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit, University of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy.7 Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Emergency, Foundation IRCCS Cà Granda Maggiore Policlinico Hospital, Milan, Italy.6 Anesthesia and Critical Care Service 1, Niguarda Hospital, Milan, Italy. 5 School of Medicine and Surgery, University of Milan-Bicocca, Monza, Italy Anesthesia and Critical Care Service 1, Niguarda Hospital, Milan, Italy.
Limitations: Backblaze doesn't back up network-attached storage (NAS) devices, which can be used to back up files in your home. Backblaze charges $99 for a 256-gigabyte flash drive sent to you by Fed Ex, or $189 for an external drive up to 8TB, refunded if you return the drive. If you need to restore your data, it's free to download a zip file or do a direct download. Or you may be charged for additional storage, depending on the service.īackblaze is best suited for people with only one computer who want an easy-to-use service.Īmount of storage: Unlimited for one computer.Ĭost: $6 per month ($60 per year) or $110 for two years. If you have a terabyte of files on a service where 1TB is the storage limit, older files might be deleted more quickly as you add new files. An exception would be if you're pushing up against your storage limit. So if you delete a file from your computer, it won't instantly disappear from your online backup. The retention time, listed below for each service, is how long deleted or overwritten files are stored. We've listed some of the more popular, easy-to-use, and convenient ones below. So make sure to store the passphrase somewhere safe, like a password manager. But if you lose your passphrase for that key, you've lost access to all your backup data, and the service won't be able to help. If you're storing sensitive data, you may want to choose a service that lets you use your own encryption key so the data isn't accessible if the cloud provider has a data breach. "Make sure that the vendor you're choosing has a backup recovery time that is appropriate for you," says Dominique West, technical account manager at the cloud monitoring service Datadog. It's also important to look at the amount of storage offered and make sure it's appropriate for your needs.Ĭloud backup companies might not be able to restore your system immediately. When you're choosing a cloud backup option, you'll want to consider what the company will charge if you need to restore all your data, and any limitations there might be on the number of computers you can use. You have two broad options for maintaining copies of your files online: cloud backup services and cloud storage services. That backup plan also comes in handy if your computer and external drive are both damaged by a power surge or malware. That way, if a natural disaster wipes out your computer and external hard drive, you can restore your files using an off-site service. The three places are typically a computer, an external hard drive, and a cloud service. "The best advice around backup is to have it in three different places," says Sean Metcalf, founder and chief technical officer of Trimarc Security, a company in Washington, D.C., that helps organizations secure their Microsoft platforms. Another option is to store them in the cloud, which is made up of remote servers you access online. But even backing up files to an external hard drive on your desk isn't always enough. If you've ever accidentally deleted or overwritten an important file, spilled a cup of coffee on your computer, or had a laptop that was lost or stolen, you understand the importance of backing up important files. Pittsburgh is welcoming back Le’Veon Bell, who was suspended for the first three games of the season. Jamaal Charles is returning from an ACL injury, but he’ll make his 2016 debut tonight against the Steelers. Two of the best backs in football return for an AFC matchup in primetime. Receiving: Antonio Brown: 4 catches, 64 yards, 2 TD Rushing: Le’Veon Bell: 18 carries, 144 yards Passing: Ben Roethlisberger: 22/27, 300 yards, 5 TD Receiving: Chris Conley: 6 receptions, 70 yards Rushing: Spencer Ware, 13 carries, 82 yards, fumble lost Passing: Alex Smith: 30/50, 282 yards, TD, INT Stats will be updated throughout the game Chiefs Bell broke left tackle for 44 yards, setting up a DeAngelo Williams TD plow to finish the drive with 7:22 remaining. The runs and protection may have been effective at times, but the true silver lining for Pittsburgh is the fact its starters will likely be much better during the regular season than the backups were on Thursday. The Steelers have their sixth touchdown of the evening, thanks to a huge run by the newly reinstated Le’Veon Bell. But I think overall we had great protection and some good runs.” We will look at the film and see how we can adjust it. Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey discussed the offensive performance, per Kaboly: “We had a couple of turnovers on offense. On the other side, Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review talked to sources in the Steelers’ locker room and said it “seems like only one interception was fault and that was a nice play on deep pass.” Their loss appears to be Philadelphia’s gain at this point. Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice noted “Carroll said a number of teams-Rams, Cowboys, Dolphins and others-passed on him” as a free agent because of concerns about his ankle. Postgame ReactionĪfter the win, Bradford said he wasn’t particularly concerned that the Eagles' offensive starters didn’t find the end zone, per Skversky.įortunately for Bradford and the offense, the Philadelphia defense did thanks to Carroll’s interception return. The Philadelphia defense looked the part Thursday, but the offense will need to make strides if it wants to garner more confidence heading into the regular season. Their third preseason contest will come against a quality opponent that reached the postseason in three of the last four years. The Eagles will travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts on Aug. The Steelers will likely play more of their offensive weapons as well. The third preseason contest is typically the closest thing to a dress rehearsal for the regular season, so expect New Orleans to open things up a bit on the offensive end. The defense gets to face an offense that ranked second in the league in total yards and eighth in points per game last year. The Steelers will hit the road to face the New Orleans Saints on Aug. However, the Steelers didn't do anything with the subsequent possession, as Vaughan's deep pass on fourth down fell incomplete, clinching the 17-0 Philadelphia victory. The Eagles broke the streak late in the game when Montell Garner forced a fumble and Doran Grant picked it up for Pittsburgh. The Steelers' punt with less than five minutes remaining in the contest marked the seventh straight punt for the two teams after Philadelphia's lengthy touchdown drive to start the second half. The punt-fest continued in the fourth quarter as the two offenses relied on players who are unlikely to see meaningful snaps in the regular season. Vaughan was sacked four times and finished 7-of-13 for 67 yards. His first three completions went for a mere 20 yards against Philadelphia's dialed-in defense. Quarterback Dustin Vaughan didn't turn the ball over for Pittsburgh, but he wasn't much of a threat downfield, either. The backups on the two offenses slowed from there, and the Eagles took their 17-0 lead into the final quarter. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet rookie Paul Turner.
The 6-position AR-style buttstock shortens the crossbows overall length for smaller frame hunters but extends comfortably to fit a variety of medium to taller shooters as well. This crossbow is awesome and the customer service is even better! You will not find a better crossbow especially in this price range.A deadly combination of high-octane fire power and agility, the BOSS™ hits targets hard at 405 feet per second. one issue with scope that came with it, company replaced in 3 days. It's great for the price the scope is terrible and it makes a squealing noise when cocking it. Also you( killer instinct) should put a video out on the performance with mechanical and fixed blade broadheads in 100 grain and heavier, it could help out alot. I just wish there were more reviews on this crossbow. This Saturday sept 26th is opening day of bow season in my state so I'm going to see what this lethal 405 can do. I have a sub 1" group at 40 yds but thats shooting off a rest. So I have my scope about 95%clear at 50 yds. Plus the ring at the rear has adjustment plus the eyepiece. You have to remove the front lense ring and it screws out like a shotgun choke tube. After adjusting it, it really isn't that bad. At first I thought the scope really sucked but there is a YouTube video on how to adjust it. It is way faster than my diamond infinate edge compound bow. Posted by Arkansas hunter on Sep 23rd 2020 (I shoot precision rifle at 1k all the time so hunting seems like cheating now) absolutely satisfied with my crossbow and will probably stop fireman hunting. i can hold under 1/2" ave close to 1" you can't beat 405fps for under $200 anywhere even buying used equipment. after zeroing it i will not shoot at the same spot on target multiple for fear of robinhood and breaking bolts. practiced with it at night and still shot under 1" inch no problem. it's clear enough to where i can't complain at all for shooting at bow yardage. scope isn't illuminated but think i prefer it not to be. seen it in rural king ad while black Friday shopping for $179 and knew i couldn't get into bow hunting any cheaper. I've waited 2 season before writing this review for perspective.įirst crossbow. But that is really on the user as the manual describes. Only issue is, cocking position is easy to confuse with the appropriate position. I've been out with the guys who have spent ridiculous $ on their stuff that has failed them. I've taken 3 deer with this set up and all shots went straight through deep into the dirt. Equipped with the picatinny rail so you can put whatever sight you would like, but the one it is issued with is fine. When I target practice I need to aim at different targets because I been destroying my bolt for the previous shot. This crossbow is amazing, with stably shot and good quality, i am still using it after one year, LOVE THIS PRODUCTĮxcellent crossbow. High value crossbow, with reasonable price and good performance! Best crossbow ever! I have been getting great shots, even with the mediocre scope it came with. Even if you pay the full price, it's very well worth it.
